Alnwick soon held up in touch, led over 1f out, soon ridden, comfortably
Plane Painter led, ridden over 2f out, headed over 1f out, not quicken
Right Option slowly into stride, in rear, ridden and headway on inside well over 1f out, soon edged right, kept on same pace final furlong
Emile Zola chased leader until ridden 2f out, no extra final furlong
Dansilver prominent, ridden over 3f out, beaten when rider dropped reins over 1f out
Command Marshal held up, some headway 3f out, ridden and weakened over 1f out
L´Oiseau De Feu held up, pushed along over 3f out, headway over 2f out, soon ridden, weakened over 1f out
Plane Painter set out to make all but was being niggled along to maintain a narrow advantage before the home turn and while he outbattled the rest, he had no answer to Alnwick's surge from the home turn.
ALNWICK is clearly progressive as he had struggled off a 10lb lower mark last turf season before his progression on the all-weather to this higher mark. He looks the sort who has strengthened into his frame and, as such, there could be more improvement as he is still off a relatively low mark and won this a shade comfortably.
Right Option, who looked reluctant to race as he gave them fully five lengths start, was on and off the bridle thereafter at the back before hugging the inside rail as the field fanned out off the home turn, he gained an unlikely third which does not say much for the rest.
