Comments in running

Wise Melody close up, led 2f out, ridden clear when hung right entering final furlong, stayed on strongly

Great Charm tracked leading pair, headway to chase winner well over 1f out, soon ridden and kept on same pace inside final furlong

Tawzeea chased leaders, ridden along 2f out, driven and one pace approaching final furlong

Mister Hardy chased leaders, ridden along 2f out, soon driven and no impression

Anosti towards rear, effort and some headway halfway, never a factor

La Chicaluna led, ridden along and headed 2f out, soon weakened

Quest For Success dwelt, always towards rear

Jonny Lesters Hair dwelt, headway on outer and in touch halfway, soon ridden and weakened 2f out

Calmdownmate took keen hold, chased leaders on inner, ridden along halfway, soon weakened

Analyis of the race

Nothing within 7lb of the ratings ceiling for a race which can sometimes attract a runner or two from the previous Saturday's William Hill Trophy (now Betfair Sprint) at York, but there were a couple of progressive three-year-old sprinters in the line-upand WISE MELODY did well to score as she did, always to the fore, leading 2f out and pulling clear for a decisive success - with the remainder well strung out by 6f standards - despite edging right. She was already due to go up 2lb in future handicaps and she will be facing a further increase after this but she is an improving performer and is worth taking very seriously again next time.

Great Charm had also been progressing well and he ran another good race, soon prominent and keeping on for a clear second without mustering the pace to reel in the winner - he will do as well reverting to 7f.

Anosti was never able to challenge and has yet to find his best form this year. La Chicaluna led to 2f out but was firmly put in her place thereafter on this drop in trip. Quest For Success may have found the ground too firm.
