The first five being covered by about a length, despite the field splitting into two, adds to this impression.
LANGS LASH still deserves plenty of credit for achieving something not many do and that is lead from start to finish. She stayed mid-track and looked likely to win with a little to spare until edging left as she tired in the final 50 yards. Being allowed to bowl along in front clearly suits her as she comprehensively overturned York form with Bahamian Babe, when she sat just off the pace.
Her pedigree hides her being such a speedster and as such connections must be tempted to take the traditional step to try 6f in the Lowther to boost her reputation, but on this showing she looks a flying-five filly and, as such, the Flying Childers looks an obvious later season objective with softer ground having been conquered well in her debut win.
Shyrl has an action that suggests juice in the ground would be preferable and it looked the same when she was put under pressure, but she clearly is very game and, despite edging left, went down only narrowly. She promises to stay another furlong and is one to bear in mind for top autumn races, while a trip to Deauville might also suit to get more favourable ground.
Connie Mac showed good all-round speed, racing virtually alone early nearestto the stands' side with the messed-about Heart Shaped in her wake. She edged left under pressure inside the last 2f and may have been on what had a suspicion of being quicker ground to aid her cause; but she coped well with the drop back of a furlong intrip and should soon make amends at Group level.
Lucky Leigh, who looks all over a sprinter in the making, led home seven who raced mid-track away from the main group.
Covered up early, she produced a strong finish under maximum pressure and only just failed to reel in the trailblazers. She has a bit more scope than some and should win a decent sprint in time.
Sugar Free, another taking filly with plenty of scope, shapes as if another furlong will not go amiss. She had the speed to travelwell on the stands' side of the pack but was a little outpaced into the last 2f before edging closer with room running out late in the quartet bunching stands' side. Out of a Prix Morny runner-up, she looks the part and can progress again at this level.
Baileys Cacao ran around on the ground to suggest it might have been plenty fast enough for her but was far from disgraced. She showed good speed and was not punished in a lost cause into the final furlong and can repay the kindness.
Sweet Applause, drawn out in the car park, ran better than the bare form. She is a taking filly with a good action and after tucking in among the seven mid-track, she was staying on when it was all over. She has a progressive profile and can certainly win her maiden.
Rebecca de Winter showed good speed in the same group but her run flattened out in the final furlong and she was just not good enough.
Bahamian Babe was not seen to best effect as her rider could not make her mind up where to go early. Finally, tacking across to the main group stands' side, she had forfeited plenty of ground and her filly could not make any inroads. She had shown good all-round speed at York and is better than this bare form when things fall right for her.
Beat Seven got warm in the prelims and was green to post taken down quietly. She was again green in the race and never threatened to land a blow, although she was striding out nicely in the final furlong to suggest she will progress as she steps up in trip, as long as she calms down beforehand.
Amosite was not good enough but hadexcuses as she was hampered out of the stalls and put on the backfoot. She showed speed to recover before her efforts told.
Heart Shaped, an athletic filly, was another bumped out of the stalls and she switched to track Connie Mac stands' side early. She could never get competitive and failed to show her Listed-race winning form where she had Nubar Lady well adrift.
Glamorous Spirit showed speed but did not look happy on the ground, wanting to hang from an early stage as she raced on the mid-track wing of the main pack, and she was eased through the final furlong.
Excellent Show, who bumped Danehill Destiny out of the stalls and was running across her again in the early stages, was eased when well beaten with her rider reporting she had no more to give.
Danehill Destiny was never going the pace with her rider getting increasingly anxious and she failed to pick up at any stage. Connections at a loss to explain the tame effort.[BJ]
