Just a modest handicap but a welcome return to winning form for WEE CHARLIE CASTLE - whose rating has plummeted - and trainer Greg Chung and jockey William Carson, who are now off the cold list after droughts of 15 months and eight months respectively.

The five-year-old had finished runner-up in his first three starts this term and was held up in mid-division until making smooth progress to lead over 2f out and quickened right away. He goes unpenalised for this success in ordinary handicaps and aquick return to action can see him prosper further in this sort of company.

Astrolibra has been plying her trade at Brighton lately and was penalised for a success in this grade nine days earlier. She was held up toward the rear until staying on and is consistent in this sort of company, but the twist and turns of the switchback track at Brighton clearly suit her better.

King Of Connacht had won in this company on his penultimate start at Southwell and ran a respectable race, and Spellman had the benefit of the most experienced rider in the race and kept on quite well against the stands' rails in the closing stages.
