JOHN KEATS showed at Haydock on his latest start that he was coming to hand and he proved it here, coming from off the pace to show in front entering the last and then running on nicely to the line. Now that he's struck form, he should be followed.
River Thames is a law unto himself. Here, with the bulk of the field edging towards the centre of the course from over two furlongs out, he secured a trouble-free run up the inside. He produced a rousing finish, but he was always edging slightly to his left and he was never able to reach the winner in time. If he's in the mood, he'll have no trouble winning something similar, especially on slightly better ground.
Lake Sabina ran a creditable race in fourth.
Prince Namid, more at home on easier ground, shaped well.
Mr Wolf, the Pontefract specialist, showed his usual dash, but was never able to dominate.
My Gacho, having run creditably at Hamilton last week, was unable to build on that effort here.
