SCENIC PASS was sent off at cramped odds after her decent effort in a valuable seller at York last week, but she got home only by the skin of her teeth from her good draw and, indeed, she might well have been beaten had the runner-up had the benefit of a previous outing and/or been better drawn. She's not a lot, and this ground was probably lively enough for her. There was no bid at the subsequent auction.
Red Baron Dancer, who was making his debut, ran a blinder. Drawn widest of all, he was produced to win his race from over a furlong out, and he actually got in front, but he looked inexperienced under pressure and was beaten on the nod.
Scarlet Blade, also equipped with a first-time visor, was comfortably held in fourth.
Sale Or Return was not disgraced from her poor draw.
