Alfresco held up in last trio, some progress 2f out, not much room over 1f out, hanging soon after and kept on one pace
Scarlet Oak never beyond midfield, under pressure on over over 2f out, no real progress
Don Pele slowly into stride, soon chased leaders, edged left under presusre from 2f out and faded
Stamford Blue with leader to over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Kensington always well in rear, under pressure and struggling soon after halfway
Buy On The Red always in last trio and soon struggling
Halsion Chancer chased leaders, ridden well over 2f out, weakened rapidly well over 1f out
Trainer David Evans explained that the filly had spoiled her chance on her first run for him here when rearing as the stalls opened.
Her earlier form when successful over this course and distance put her in with solid claims.
China Cherub was trying to repeat her 2007 victory in the race. She fought her way to the front against the rail only to find Dressed To Dance far too good. She is possibly a couple of pounds too high.
Alfresco probably found the six furlongs on an easy track an insufficient test, while Scarlet Oak operates best at the sprint distance and, in snapping at the heels of the placed horses, showed there should be a race to be won with her.
