Flying Valentino midfield, headway 2f out, disputed lead and edged right under pressure inside final furlong, stayed on to lead near finish

Efidium held up, pushed along over 2f out, never reached leaders
Farne Island soon pushed along in rear, never on terms
Ghafeer close up, ridden and edged left 2f out, soon weakened
Multitude behind, driven over 3f out, soon beaten
Buzzin´Boyzee prominent until weakened from 2f out
Mangano raced wide in midifeld, edged right and weakened from 2f out
Anthemion belied his 20-1 starting price with a really good effort. He was dashed into the lead early and set a scorching gallop, but though the challengers lined up behind him he refused to be swamped and in the end was only just touched off on the line.
Favourite Wind Shuffle did not look the most amenable of characters. There were plenty of chances for him to go and stake his claim, but he did not put it in until inside the final furlong and though staying on well the post came a shade too early for him.
Emirate Isle caught the eye just behind the principals. He did not have the best of runs in the closing stages and did well to finish as close as he did. On this form, he should be capable of winning in due course but his long term future will be over jumps.
