Habbie Heights dwelt, driven in rear over 3f out, effort and edged right 2f out, soon no impression, not reach leaders and eased inside final furlong
Kyllis led 2f, close up until weakened over 1f out
Kool Katie took keen hold, tracked leaders, effort when not much room briefly 2f out, soon no extra
Chaenomeles close up, led after 2f to 2f out, soon weakened
Diamond Royal pulled hard in rear, short-lived effort 2f out, soon beaten
Strictly Elsie missed break, always well behind

Welcome Return was being pushed along more than 3f out, but she responded to the urgings to force her head in front with two to run. However, the winner always had her measure and though she edged left that did not account for this defeat.
There was a big gamble on Chaenomeles, who was backed from 7-1 to half those odds and supporters must have been on good terms with themselves when she led off the turn, but she came under pressure soon after and was a spent force from two furlongs out.
