There was plenty of encouragement here for connections of Lisvale for the forthcoming campaign. Racing in mid-division early, he travelled well to make ground over half a mile out, going to the front over a furlong out without having any answer to the winner's change of gear. He's certain to improve and his Irish Derby entry doesn't look too fanciful on this evidence and the promise of what improvement may be there.
Central Station doesn't hold an entry inthe Irish Derby but is one that is likely to improve for an extra couple of furlongs. Prominent in the chasing group, he just didn't have the tactical speed to close up when the pacemakers dropped back and probably didn't get the clearest of runs. For all that, though, he stayed on nicely in the last furlong and looks a colt with a future in stakes company.
Raydiya couldn't get into the race either, but kept on eye-catchingly from being last turning in to finish fifth without enjoying the clearest of passages. She doesn't have any fancy entries but is a filly with a fair bit of improvement in her.
The experiment with Toirneach stepping up in trip didn't work, although in fairness she seemed to runquite flat and was beaten too far out for stamina to have been the main issue. Having chased the leading pair for most of the journey, she looked in a bit of trouble turning in and dropped away inside the last furlong and a half.
The Fist Of God was one of the more disappointing horses in this race. Held up, he made an effort to get closer in the straight but it was quite short-lived. [JO'H]
