Riding arrangements signalled that Westphalia was the best of the Ballydoyle runners and that proved to be the case with Johnny Murtagh's mount coming off the pace to chase home the winner after being settled in mid-division early on. He showed a goodturn of foot to move into second position at the 1f marker and while he was gaining on Intense Focus all the time, the winner appeared to pick up again once challenged by Westphalia. This was also a good display from the runner-up.
Navajo, who had finished fifth on his first start at Naas 11 days earlier, raced just behind the leaders during the first half of the race and while stalking the front-runners up to the 2f marker, was one-paced from there onwards.
Fifth-placed Lista Lightning raced with credit despite never looking like troubling the principals here. [RC]
