Analyis of the race
A third win, and his first at the trip, for SUMMIT SURGE whose previous two successes were achieved over 7f. A close-up fourth in the Group 3 Amethyst Stakes over this distance at Leopardstown on his previous start, he made his move over a furlong out and picked up well to get on top well inside the final furlong. He relishes fast ground and will be worth trying again at Group 3 level.
Regaleya, a winner over 6f and 7f, had finished second over this trip at Dundalk on her previous start. She was 7lb out of the handicap here and ran a good race, getting to the front under two furlongs out and only giving best well inside the final furlong.
Tis Mighty appeared unlucky not to have gone very close. She found herself trapped on the inside and had to be switched around the whole field before running on well from over a furlong out.
Rain Rush made headway from behind over the last couple of furlongs and stayed on in the closing stages.
Namaya, winner of this race last year and well supported to repeat here, was close up on the inside and had every chance until weakening a furlongs out. [TOH]
