Don´t Be Bleu settled towards rear, progress going well 3 out, ridden to lead next, just held on
Noble Minstrel held up in midfield, effort 3 out, led on bit before next where ridden and headed, every chance until no extra closing strides
Medic towards rear, under pressure and raced awkwardly when headway from 3 out, tried to challenge and mistake last, switched right and finished strongly
Shergill prominent, driven and outpaced after 9th, only 10th after 3 out, plugged on again and left 4th at last
Flamehairtemptress behind, ridden and headway 3 out, on heels of leaders before next, weakened between last two
Aymard Des Fieffes jumped right in last place, headway 8th, wide but on heels of leaders before 2 out, soon eased

Colinette jumped slowly 4th and 5th and reminders, lost touch under pressure 8th, tailed off
Feeling Peckish led until after 5th, driven and faded 7th, tailed off 3 out

Gandy Dancer mistake 5th, last next, tailed off and pulled up 8th
Maizy Missile mistake 3rd, headway 6th, led before 3 out and mistake, ridden and headed before next, 7 lengths 4th when landed awkwardly and unseated rider last
Noble Minstrel was bidding to complete a hat-trick after two recent wins over shorter distances at Fontwell, and he looked like doing so when produced to lead approaching the second last. But he was awkward at that flight and, quickly engaged by Don't Be Bleu, just found himself outbattled. The longer trip did not beat him, and it would be no great surprise to see him winning again before long.
Shergill, tried in first time blinkers, was plugging on again at the finish after losing his place, but he would have only been fifth if Maizy Missile had not unseated his rider after the last.
Aymard Des Fieffes had not shown much to this point (no placings from 11 starts over a variety of trips), but he caught the eye late on here, briefly looking as if he might get into the argument turning for home. His effort was not sustained, but on this evidence there is some untapped potential here.
