Fieldsofclover settled midfiled, went 3rd at 14th and 2nd next, led 2 out, soon clear and in command, unchallenged after
Rajam went 2nd at 6th until ridden 3 out, outpaced next, driven and kept on from last to snatch modest 2nd
Oakfield Legend jumped boldly and led at fast pace, ridden and headed 2 out, soon outpaced, still 2nd best when mistake last, tired and lost 2nd near finish
Matt The Thrasher hampered 1st, detached in last place until 8th, ridden and stayed on past beaten horses from 3 out, no chance with winner
Beau Supreme left 2nd 4th until 6th, prominent until ridden and outpaced 3 out, kept on again flat
Down The Stretch chased leader until blundered badly 4th, remained prominent until ridden and weakened soon after 2 out
Super Judge badly hampered 1st, behind and not always fluent, ridden after 13th, struggling when mistake next
Smart Cavalier took keen hold in midfield until ridden and weakened 3 out
Sultan Fontenaille fell 1st
Megaton midfield until blundered badly and unseated rider 7th, returned lame
Tommy Spar badly hampered 1st, well behind, hampered 7th, ridden and lost touch 8th, tailed off 12th, pulled up after next
Mr Fluffy mistakes, chased leaders until ridden and weakened and blundered 13th, well behind when pulled up 3 out
Gallik Dawn not fluent 3rd, behind, struggling before 14th, blundered 3 out, pulled up next
But Oakfield Legend endured a strong pace and put the stress on stamina, and FIELDSOFCLOVER passed the test best of all, taking command off the home turn to score decisively. Fieldsofclover had failed to stay 3m when tried over the trip earlier in his career, but jockey Jack Doyle had reported, after riding the horse into second over 2m4f at Ludlow in April, that he was now finding that trip on the sharp side and could benefit from a step back up in distance.
Trainer Emma Lavelle has no particular plans for her winner, but will be looking for other opportunities for him over the summer, as he is best on top of the ground.
Oakfield Legend, very disappointing at Newton Abbot last time, had cheekpieces reapplied here and sustained his effort longer in the headgear. But the game was up for him turning for home, and he got run out of second close home.
Matt The Thrasher, who was hampered early on, could never really get into the argument, but still managed to show more than on his previous two starts this season and he could be coming to hand.
