Scalloway led to 3rd, continued to chase leader, ridden approaching 3 out, closed 2 out, led just before last, stayed on well to draw clear run-in
Genghis mistakes, with leader, led 3rd, clear approaching 8th, pressed 2 out, ridden and headed just before last, no extra run-in
Allumee in touch, ridden to chase leaders when not fluent 3 out, wanted to lug left in straight, lost touch with front pair from 2 out
Lord On The Run held up, headway 10th, ridden approaching 11th, soon weakened, mistake 3 out and 2 out, took poor 4th last
Consigliere held up, headway 10th, 6 lengths off pace in 4th when blundered 12th, soon pushed along and beaten
Aggie´s Lad held up, blundered badly 9th, toiling after and never on terms
Copper Bay chased leaders, ridden after 4 out, soon weakened
Champagne Harry midfield, jumped slowly 1st, pushed along approaching 10th, weakened 11th
Azulejo behind, mistake 1st, lost touch after 8th
Not A Trace jumped right, midfield, headway to chase leaders 5th, reminder after 8th, weakened approaching 11th, tailed off when pulled up before 4 out
Abutilon jumped right, held up, niggled along approaching 10th, behind when pulled up before 11th
SCALLOWAY reportedly suffered an injury after showing fair winning form in the 2006-07 season but is clearly back in good shape and he did this well, tracking the leader then going on just before the last fence and staying on to score readily. This step up to 2m4f looked to be in his favour and he could well enjoy further success in handicaps over the next month or two - summer chases are rarely that competitive and he is unlikely to be weighted out of things after this.
Recent Worcester runner-up Genghis led from the third fence until before the last but characteristically jumped less than fluently. However, this was still a decent effort and the fact that he was officially 4lb well-in pays a compliment to the winner.
Lord Of The Run never looked following up his hurdles win at Wetherby, but Consigliere was six lengths fourth and had yet to be asked for an effort when he lost all chance with a bad mistake five out - he had won well at Newton Abbot four weeks previously and is worth another chance.
Aggie's Lad lost his chance with bad mistake at the ninth fence, while Abutilon spoilt his chance by jumping markedly to the right.
