LORD ALFRED was one of that number, having picked up a couple of points since arriving from Mouse Morris in Ireland, and he jumped well on this debut for Matt Sheppard to score with a little bit to spare. Sheppard reckons the horse will improve again over 3m.
Double Mead, who had run out an easy winner in a weak contest at Fontwell last week, was racing over an extra half-mile here but got the trip without aproblem. However, the concession of 8lb to the winner proved beyond him, and time may show what a difficult task that was.
Rich Nomad, who had unseated her rider at Southwell earlier in the week, did so again here but was in the process of running a much better race, staying on strongly from off the pace, when she parted company with David England at the last.
