Analyis of the race
Overnight rain totalled 11mm and a couple of hefty showers saw good in places added to the overnight good to firm going.
Jockeys reported the ground dead and these modest performers struggled home off a strong pace set by winner THE GOOD GUY
Connections reported the ground having gone against this fast-ground performer, so he deserves plenty of credit for this battling win. His jumping was sketchy but not as bad as some of his rivals and he is a big chasing type who should develop over fences in time.
Alecia was struggling down the back straight as the winner and Poseidon's Secret had a right set-to and cleared away around the bottom bend.
She made up fully ten lengths in the home straight to finish best. This was a first sign of form and for new connections, so this filly could pick up a similarly weak novice.
Wade Farm Billy swung wide into the straight to race alone up the stands' side. He edged closer from the second-last before tiring up the run-in, but this was a promising debut over hurdles from this bumper winner.
Billybob Bathwick looks one to avoid as he played up at the start and was soon shoved along and shown the whip without any positive response.
Darksideofthemoon looked to impress for a sound surface last time, but the rain loosening it on top seemed to put him off as he hardly jumped a hurdle, while poor pointer Silverick Lady also jumped badly.
