El Coto was never far from the leaders and gave the winner something to think about over the final few hurdles. Once very useful at about a mile on the Flat, he proved his effort at Cartmel last time was no fluke and he can win a race around a sharp course this summer.
Back To The Wind and Alfloramoor were both disappointing and went backwards after racing prominently.
Southburgh was bang there until turning in. However, he came down two out and badly hampered Glann Boy, who was making moderate progress at the time. The jockey on the latter had no chance. King Of Diamonds went at the same hurdle, albeit independently, and spent quite a while on the ground before getting up.
