PAKTOLOS seemed to turn over a new leaf in the first time blinkers and actually won with a bit more in hand than the official distance suggests. He had not cut much ice over hurdles, but if the headgear works again there might be a decent handicap in him. He is likely to be back over hurdles in the autumn, though.
Horseford Hill had looked quietly progressive last season and this was not a bad comeback run as he probably bumped into a horse transformed by the blinkers and there was a couple of lengths back to the others. He can win in his turn.
Alfie Noakes was never really competitive off the pace although he did plug on in the closing stages. He has dropped down the handicap, but might not be the easiest to win with.
Mustajed had won the race 12 months ago and effectively had every chance off a 1lb lower mark. He probably could have done with a bit more pace early on.
