Hellzapoppin tracked leaders, took keen hold, effort over 2f out, kept on one pace

Enderby Light chased leaders, edged right over 1f out, kept on

Miss Serena mid-division, driven over 3f out, kept on, never a factor

Syriana chased leaders, lost place over 2f out

Enderby Princess slowly into stride, headway 5f out, one pace when pushed wide over 1f out

Drum Major led, headed over 2f out, soon lost place

Faraway Bay started slowly, pushed along in rear

Thankfully started slowly, always behind

Analyis of the race

Hard to know quite what to make of this maiden race, which was turned into something of a procession by MAORI, whose previous two outings had amounted to little when he was trained in France and was running on heavy ground. Now with Mark Johnston, and running on a much sounder surface, he fairly bounded away with this contest. We will have a better idea of his ability when he runs again, presumably in handicap company.

Herrera, upped in trip, was tapped for foot entering the last two furlongs, but came home strongly to snatch second place well inside the last. She clearly stays well and she is now qualified for a handicap mark.

Hellzapoppin and Enderby Light showed a glimpse of ability, but Drum Major was disappointing.
