Goodwood Starlight held up in touch, headway 4f out, ridden to lead 2f out, soon edged right, clear 1f out, stayed on strongly
Ellemujie held up towards rear, headway over 3f out, ridden to chase winner entering final furlong, no impression, eased near finish
Title Role chased leader until over 5f out, ridden and outpaced 3f out, stayed on again under pressure from over 1f out, went 3rd well inside final furlong, no chance with winner
Higgy´s Boy held up in last pair, ridden 3f out, plugged on steadily past beaten horses final furlong, never near winner
Mcconnell chased leaders, went 2nd over 5f out, ridden 3f out, unable to quicken under pressure, weakened over 1f out
Timbalier chased leaders, pushed along 6f out, ridden over 4f out, weakened well over 2f out
Greylami soon led, ridden over 2f out, headed 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Red Cauldron held up behind, ridden and lost touch 3f out
Gaia Prince held up towards rear, headway on outer 4f out, ridden 3f out, soon struggling and beaten
The wide margin will not impress the handicapper so Goodwood Starlight is going to have to step up a grade or two but he looks to be progressing again this year after his good two-year-old campaign.
Ellemujie has won only over 6f but has been battling away over 1m recently. He looked a threat when picking up into second inside the last 2f but he was struggling forstamina through the final furlong despite holding second with his rider easing him in the final strides.
Higgy's Boy was switched off at the rear but made strong headway into the last 3f before his run flattened out in the finalfurlong.
Greylami continues to disappoint on turf after promising efforts on the all-weather this year. He set a decent pace against the inside rail but was beaten into the final 2f.
McConnell, done no favours with the outside draw, was stuck wide up with the pace before weakening disappointingly. This was not his running.
