CAPUCCI, making his handicap debut after the three mandatory runs in maiden company, was equipped with a first-time tongue tie and showed his true colours with a fairly ready display under joint top weight. The return to this stiffer test no doubt worked the oracle and he still looked inexperienced when hitting the front, so should really have more to offer over this trip despite a likely weight rise for this.
Trumpet Lily was the onlyone to really give the winner a serious race at the business end and eventually finished nicely clear of the remainder in second. She caught the eye travelling sweetly nearing the final furlong and may have even given the winner even more to think about had she not had to be switched for her challenge. This rates a personal-best effort and her turn does not look at all far off now.
Palmerin, despite running a little freely through the early parts, raced handily and kept on to post his best effort of the current campaign. A 5lb lower mark and return to this shorter trip helped, but he is evidently not straightforward, as he showed by jinking to his right inside the final furlong.
Brave Hawk was not helped when Palmerin hung right, but he was held at the time and is now looking exposed. He still helps to set the standard of this form.
Spin Again travelled nicely in behind the leaders and looked a player in between the final two furlongs, but while he was another done no favours when Palmerin hung, he had found just the same pace when eventually asked for maximum effort. This longer trip may have stretched his stamina to the limit and the best of him has probably still to be seen.
Rich Kid, placed on five of his last six outings, did not really prove all that suited by this drop back in trip yet still ran his race and is another who puts the form into perspective. [DO]
