Sevenna held up in rear, steady headway 3f out, chased leader over 1f out, driven to lead final 110yds, readily
Caprivi in rear until headway 3f out, driven to lead inside final 2f, headed and outpaced final 110yds
Dazzling Light in rear, driven along 3f out, stayed on from over 1f out, kept on inside final furlong but never any chance with leading duo
Siyabona tracked leaders, driven to challenge over 2f out, soon outpaced, weakened final furlong
One Oak in rear, ridden over 3f out, moderate progress inside final furlong
Alzaroof in rear, driven along over 3f out, little response until some headway final furlong
La Troupe chased leaders, went 2nd 4f out, challenged 3f out and soon slight lead, headed inside final 2f and weakened quickly
Double Duty slowly into stride, soon chasing leaders, ridden 3f out, weakened 2f out
Poppy Gregg slowly away, ridden 5f out, always behind
Let Me Pass chased leader until over 4f out, soon weakened
Qasayed led, 8 lengths clear from 7f out to 5f out, headed and weakened quickly inside final 3f
This was the first division of a fillies' maiden in which form was limited.
Qasayed was far too free in front and was a good eight lengths clear at halfway, the strong pace she set playing to the strengths of the hold-up horses.
SEVENNA certainly fell into that category, and she still only had three behind her into the straight, but she made smooth headway up the outsideof the field to go after new leader Caprivi well over a furlong out. The pair pulled nicely away, and Sevenna was much the stronger, winning more easily than the bare margin suggests after being given just a couple of taps. Connections felt that the strong pace and easier ground were very much to her advantage after an unspectacular debut at Goodwood, and she can go on from here, probably over further.
Caprivi also came from off the pace, and she showed plenty of promise to, especially as she lacked a previous race. She will learn from this and looks sure to do better.
Siyabona, second on both starts last year, set the standard and looked fit enough for her return, but having moved readily enough upsides the leader she was beaten quickly. This was a disappointing start to her second season.
One Oak ran just respectably again in fifth and is no star, although she is very well bred.
Alzaroof, another well bred filly, failed to improve on her Notiingham debut and the runner-up's stablemate La Troupe dropped right out after chasing the pace getting to the front briefly in the straight.[GD]
