Only once a winner before this race, she received a textbook ride from Shane Kelly, who bided his time aboard Pat Eddery's challenger before asking her to make a late bid for glory. She responded well to the rider's urgings, and might well win again before long, as she loves fast ground and could do better still when upped to 2m.
Spring Dream would have been suited by a stronger-run race, but she could still perhaps have won had Richard Hughes asked her for maximum effort sooner. Hughes was not far off motionless on the 101-rated hurdler midway up the straight, but hefailed to kick her in the belly and instead, as is sometimes his wont, took a pull and waited.
They All Laughed ran a cracking race and, having hit the front, was headed only close home. He was not helped by the distraction of the winning rider's whip flashing in his face at a crucial stage, but it probably made no difference. He could well strike while the ground remains fast.
Emile Zola stayed on well under pressure after being outpaced, but he would not have finished fourth had the rider of Fourth Dimension not eased up prematurely.
