A ready winner at Bath two starts back, he was unable to justify favouritism under a 6lb penalty at Yarmouth next time and had subsequently been given a short break. He has clearly fund some form again and will remain a force at this sort of level.
Medieval Maiden seems to have appreciated a change of scenery this year. Never too far off the pace, she went on a furlong out and looked all over the winner, but Top Seed had other ideas and she was run out of it.
Mixing has been falling short off this sort of mark but has often gone well here in the past and ran on under pressure to record a decent effort in third.
Nothingtodeclaire had been well supported in the morning and this improved showing evidently came as no surprise. She was keen early on but stuck on well enough for pressure and should find a small race at the right level.
Noah Jameel, whose only two victories have been registered over course and distance, the most recent of which came off a 2lb lower mark in February, finished some 14 lengths behind Top Seed at Bath last time and had it to do to reverse the form, despite being 10lb better off. He ran well, but lacked the pace to launch a serious challenge and is another who would have prefered a faster pace.
Still Calm, who had to be walked down to post, ran an improved race on his handicap debut with a first-time eyeshield. He took up the running after a couple of furlongs but was inclined to wander and ultimately dropped out.
