The likeable SOLO ATTEMPT looked as though experience was needed when second in modest contest at Great Leighs maiden on debut, finishing one place ahead of Sir Geoffrey, and she showed herself to be heading the right way by confirming the form. Well drawn in 10, she held a nice position against the rail and picked up nicely when asked to go on inside the final furong. The daughter of Anabaa will want 7f before long and she remains capable of better. It will be interesting to see what mark she is given for nurseries.
Sir Geoffrey, who got going late after a slow start to finish a neck behind Solo Attempt at Great Leighs on debut, was quick to grab the lead and he again showed obvious promise, but was unableto repel his old rival. He clearly posseses plenty of pace and has shown enough to suggest he can land a small maiden.
Like For Like comes from a yard who continue to churn out the juvenile winners and she did little wrong when finishing third behind a decent sort on her recent debut at Bath. The draw had not been kind to her though, having drawn stall one, and she was forced to race in midfield early. She got going too late, running on inside the final furlong for third, and already looks as though she will benefit from 7f.
River Captain, a half-brother to multiple-winner Proper, comes from a yard which is capable of readying one and he made a promising debut back in fifth, running on late having been slowly away. He should learn from this experience.
Calahonda, second to a fair type on debut at Wolverhampton, went the wrong way from that and ran rather flat, while Super Sprint entrant Craft offered little encouragement on this racecourse debut.
