I Certainly May in rear, pushed along soon after halfway, lost touch 3f out

Io in touch, ridden 4f out, weakened quickly 2f out, soon eased

A weak field in which there were doubts over the entire field.SEA ADMIRAL started promisingly last year but had become very disappointing. Tried in blinkers here off a lowish mark, he had plenty of use made of him to offset his lack of pace, and herallied after looking beaten.

Miss Jolyon travelled well and was clearly going best when taking it up from the winner 2f out, but with hindsight that was plenty soon enough on a filly who on pedigree was not sure to stay. Once in front she failed to put her stamp on the race and never got much more than half a length up before failing by the narrowest of margins in a finish that could have gone either way. While one can understand why she was taken to the front when she was, she might well have won if her effort had been delayed.

Eddie Ahern reported that Io was unsuited by the ground.
