Hotel Felix tracked leaders, took keen hold, lost place 3f out

Her Name Is Rio in rear, lost place 5f out, tailed off 3f out

A stop-start pace to this low-grade handicap, for they set off very fast, but then the pace slowed appreciably down the far side. Only three featured, and the first two were the first two throughout.

Victory went to PATTHEPAINTER, who raced keenly in the lead in first-time blinkers, but settled after three furlongs, and he stuck on well when challenged in the straight despite stumbling when bumping into the rail over a furlong out. Whether he'll progress remains to be seen.

River Kent didn't look entirely straight forward, for everything went his way. He raced in touch, settled well, came to win his race over a furlong out but then edged left and didn't stay on. He should find a small race, but may not be one to take a really short price about.

Harrison's Star ran on to take fourth, but was never a threat, though he was a place in front of Northgate Music, who was the other to race up with the pace.
