Analyis of the race

A position on or near the pace proved the key asset as usual in a 51-70 handicap that featured a mixed bag of three-year-olds. ALWAYS CERTAIN had started to become disappointing but stepping up in trip proved the answer as he was always to the fore and kept on to lead in the closing stages. He had come down 4lb since his only previous run in a handicap and is clearly a useful proposition off this sort of mark.

The in-and-out Maximus Aurelius ran one of his better races, though he was helped bybeing able to make most of the running, although he did not handle all the bends well.

Sinbad The Sailor did best of those not ridden on or near the pace and deserves credit as he was a shade keen early on. He has shown promise on both runs in this sphere and looks up to winning a handicap off this sort of mark.

Elusive Deal raced keenly on her first run of the year, while Una Auroraborealis ran well for a long way and was not discredited from out of the handicap. Portrush Stormspoilt her chance at the start.
