Mont Cervin made all, ridden 2f out, stayed on well final furlong
Pediment chased leader, challenged well over 1f out, soon ridden and unable to quicken, beaten 1f out
Dea Caelestis chased leading pair, ridden over 1f out, soon hanging right, kept on same pace
Beau Fighter chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, outpaced by leaders well over 1f out, kept on
Shesha Bear raced in midfield, ridden and outpaced just over 2f out, stayed on under pressure final furlong, never threatened leaders
Soggy Dollar steadied after start and held up in rear, effort and ridden 2f out, never pace to trouble leaders
Piano Sonata held up towards rear, headway on outer 6f out, chased leaders 4f out, ridden and weakened 2f out, eased well inside final furlong
Ubiquitous held up in midfield, ridden and no impression 2f out
Rutba held up in rear, ridden 3f out, never dangerous
Hungry For More slowly into stride, always last
It looked a good opportunity for Pediment, who had was possibly unlucky at Great Leighs on her previous start, and she was backed accordingly. Kept much handier this time she was produced with what looked a winning challenge starting up the straight, but having got upsides MONT CERVIN, she could not get by and gave the impression she might have been feeling the drying ground.
Mont Cervin is a big, tall gelding by Sakhee, and he evidently had not settled when trained by his owner Charles Cyzer for two outings last year. He was evidently not totally unfancied here, even though there was a worry the track might not be ideal, and Eddie Ahern allowed him to bowl along in front on his first start for William Haggas. To his credit he found plenty when challenged, and he looks as if he can go on to better things.
Beau Fighter, who was never far away and showed improved form in fourth, also has handicaps as an option now.
Shesha Bear wasn't disgraced, without running up to her BHA mark of 72.
Soggy Dollar passed a couple in the straight but was below his juvenile form, and Piano Sonata's effort down the outside in the back straight failed to amount to much.
