Thoughtsofstardom tracked leaders on stands' rail, not clear run and switched right over 1f out, ran on well to lead last strides
Fastrac Boy led narrowly, ridden 2f out, headed over 1f out, kept on gamely final furlong
Regal Royale raced in midfield, ridden 3f out, headway halfway, every chance from well over 1f out, unable to quicken near finish
Azygous chased leaders, ridden and every chance 2f out, led narrowly over 1f out until headed and lost 3 places last strides
Mambazo taken down to start early, pressed leader, ridden and every chance from over 2f out until weakened last 100yds, beaten when slightly short of room towards finish
Valiant Romeo towards rear, ridden halfway, kept on but never pace to challenge
Harrison´s Flyer behind, ridden halfway, kept on but never pace to challenge
Briery Lane always in rear, no chance last 2f
Exponential in touch, ridden halfway, weakened 2f out, eased inside final furlong
Pretty Selma steadied start, well behind from halfway, tailed off
THOUGHTSOFSTARDOM has been running consistently well lately and he was well backed. The runner-up gave him a nice lead up the stands' rail, and once he was pulled around him, he always looked the likeliest winner, even though it was a blanket finish. All being well he will run againat Brighton on Wednesday.
Fastrac Boy is from a stable showing clear signs of returning to form, and he showed plenty of pace up the rail. This was only his second race on turf, and his first on fast ground. The draw no doubt helped, but he ought to be able to win one of these.
Mambazo was returning to turf off a 13lb lower mark thanhe raced off at Kempton last time, but he had his chance and was already weakening when tightened up a little inside the final furlong.Valiant Romeo looked to have possibilities from a good draw off a decent mark. He was keeping on but never had the speed to get in a blow.
