Nelson Du Ronceray tracked leader, upsides 7th, shaken up to lead approaching 2 out, 5 lengths clear last, ridden and held on towards finish
Double Vodka tracked leaders, driven 8th, headway to go 2nd 2 out, stayed on run-in, just held
Pilca held up in touch, went prominent 3 out, weakened approaching next
Earl Sigurd not fluent in last, outpaced and behind 5th, tailed off 7th, left modest 4th last
Creinch led, headed approaching 2 out, just 4th when fell last
He's a proven soft-ground performer, and after racing in touch, he went clear two out, but idled in front and was driven out to hold on.
He's already rated 122 over fences compared to 110 over hurdles, so isn't that easy to place.
Double Vodka, a 123-rated hurdler making his debut over fences, shaped with plenty of encouragement. Although he looked held two out, he ran on well and only just failed to get up. In contrast to the winner, he's a horse who is better on good or fast ground, and as he jumped well enough he'll find a race over fences.
