Analyis of the race
This conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle was all about Lord Ryeford as he got in here over 2st lower than his chase mark but he was forced to give best to GALLANT HERO who effectively got first run and then refused to be denied. The winner had won off this mark last autumn on this sort of ground and once again showed his liking for a fast surface. However he must be considered a shade fortunate to collect as the runner-up would surely have won if he had not had to switch around the field turning in after being checked back on the home turn.
Wild Tonto seems to have two ways of running and Little Bit Of Hush, making his handicap debut and stepping up in trip, just plugged on at the one pace.
