Analyis of the race
The course appeared in good nick and the ground was riding just on the fast side of good.
This proved a fairly strongly run race and FINAL VETO, outpaced for a long way, still had plenty to do three out. Staying on relentlessly, his momentum carried him into the lead inside the final furlong to win going away. This was his first run for three months and, on this evidence, he will be even more at home over further.
Yachvili, who recently won over this course and distance, had much more on his plate but he acquitted himself well and looks to be progressing. Hapthor, a pointing winner, but a long-standing maiden under rules produced a sound performance and was only found wanting late on.
