Kirkhammerton held up, headway 5th, chased winner approaching 2 out, ridden and edged left approaching last, not quicken flat
Santera held up in mid-division, headway 6th, weakened approaching last
Keepasharplookout took keen hold, led, mistake 3rd, clear 4th, headed approaching 2 out, weakened approaching last
Three Ships held up towards rear, headway and switched left approaching 3 out, switched right and weakened approaching 2 out
Sun Bian jumped right 1st, held up in mid-division, headway approaching 3 out, soon ridden, weakened 2 out
Wolfman mistake 6th, always in rear
Silver Island held up towards rear, struggling when mistake 3 out, tailed off
Swallow Senora in rear, mistake 6th, tailed off from 3 out, collapsed after finish
Scott held up, pushed along after 6th, soon struggling, tailed off when pulled up after 2 out
Buds Dilemma took keen hold, chased leaders, mistake 3rd, weakened approaching 3 out, tailed off when blundered 2 out, soon pulled up
The first two had it between them from two out. That said, DANDYGREY RUSSETT had looked a cut above this level when winning at Bangor in the 2006-07 season and showed that she retains ability and goes on a firm surface, racing keenly but always prominent, leading before the second-last flight and holding on well. Her current BHA rating of 88 would look attractive if she is back to her best.
Stable-companion Kirkhammerton would have been 16lb better off with the winner in a handicap and clearly ran well, suited by the ground's drying out having been pulled up on a soft surface here the previous month.
Keepasharplookout raced keenly and was soon aclear leader. The fact that he was still able to hold on for fourth was another sign that this is not strong form.
Three Ships had very strong claims at these weights, but he was below his best on this drop back in class, never able to get to the leaders from off the pace.
The lightly raced Wolfman was well backed, but he was pushed along a long way out.
