Three Lions took keen hold, held up behind, steady progress from 5th, went 2nd approaching 7th, every chance 2 out, soon ridden, kept on same pace

Foly Pleasant chased leaders, ridden approaching 9th, weakened approaching 2 out but hung on for 3rd

Heaven Is Above chased leaders, struggling 8th, no chance from 3 out, plugged on

Dunkerron mid-division until 6th, ridden after 8th, some late progress past strugglers but never any danger

Oxybau held up towards rear, headway approaching 7th, ridden approaching 9th, soon weakened, tailed off

Slow To Part mid-division, headway to track leader after 4th, weakened after 8th, tailed off

Temper Lad mid-division until weakened after 9th, tailed off and pulled up before last

Gouranga held up in rear, headway approaching 7th, went 3rd and ridden after 8th, weakened 3 out, pulled up before next

Happy Hussar chased leaders until 7th, soon well tailed off, carried on until pulled up and collapsed near finish, dead

Carroll´s O´Tully led until after 9th, weakened next, behind and pulled up before last

Moscow Summit blundered 6th, always behind, tailed off and pulled up before 3 out

Gift Of Life mid-division until 8th, soon tailed off, pulled up before 3 out

The ground was soft which was hardly surprising given the recent rain. The inside rails on the turns had been taken in to their shortest points but the two hurdles in the home straight were set back further than usual thereby creating a much longer run-in with a slight chicane to manoeuvre as rails had been put up on the stands' side so that some false ground could be bypassed.

This seller will probably mean very little as far as the form book is concerned as this type of race over this far is a rarity and many would have struggled in the conditions.

Three Lions and the winner were well clear of the others but he has not won for three years and was beaten in this grade last time. Foly Pleasant is a shadow of his former self even though he is at an all time low handicap wise.

Heaven Is Above, a winning pointer, seemingly wants better ground and is also not getting any better at his age.
