Mac Gille Eoin chased leader, led over 1f out, soon ridden clear, ran on well
Our Faye held up in midfield, headway and ridden over 2f out, chased winner over 1f out, kept on but never able to challenge
Gift Horse held up behind, pulled out and ridden well over 1f out, ran on final furlong, snatched 3rd on line, never near leaders
Sweet Pickle took keen hold, held up in midfield, headway over 1f out, ran on but never threatened leaders
Idle Power led at good pace, headed and ridden over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong
Pearly Wey toward rear, ridden and effort over 2f out, never going pace to trouble leaders
Pawan raced in midfield, kept on same pace last 3f
Lucayos chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, weakened well over 1f out
Joseph Henry took keen hold, held up in midfield, ridden over 2f out, soon struggling
Halsion Chancer pulled hard, chased leaders, ridden and weakened over 2f out, eased inside final furlong
Obe Gold always behind, no chance and hanging left 2f out
Machinist sat down in stalls and lost many lengths start, always behind
Unfortunately this year, the stable stalled somewhat to take more away from the race with Machinist uneasy in the stalls and left a long way, effectively putting him out of the race.
There was not the expected frantic pace despite old reliable Idle Power running his usual race, powering off the bend before being a sitting duck into the final furlong.
MAC GILLE EOIN grabbed the rail from his good draw and cruised round in the wake of Idle Power before kicking on and winning a shade cosily with the closers never threatening him. As he handles fast ground, there could be more to come at Ascot in the Wokingham which has been his target but there will have to be as this race was some way removed from that contest. While Selhurstpark Flyer won this the year after he won the Wokingham, overall the form of this race is just out of the money for the big Royal Ascot handicap and it looks more of the same - VCbet were a realistic 33-1.
Our Faye showed a welcome return to form after two poor efforts this season. She is back to her last winning mark and raced like a return to her other winning trip of 7f might help these days.
Sweet Pickle could never land a blow but looked up against it here on her overall profile. She has carried forward her good all-weather form but looks very high in the ratings on turf.
Idle Power ran his usual race but was always going to struggle under his 4lb higher mark and the veteran has run as well as can be expected.
Pawan was tight for room against the inside rail halfway up the straightafter chasing the pace.
Lucayos and Halsion Chancer were plenty keen enough close to the steady early pace. Both showed good pace but as reported by his rider Halsion Chancer did not handle the track.
Joseph Henry was also reported not to have handled the track. (BJ)
