BUREAUCRAT had won his last hurdles start and proved a game winner after bursting into contention into the last two furlongs. He was gasping for the line in the last 100 yards, suggesting this trip is the full limit of his stamina. This was his first start on the Flat for nearly three years but on this display he has more to offer as a dual-purpose performer.
Bandama cut back towards the inside rail to make his move just after the winner and was closing to the line. This was a taking seasonal reappearance againstmore racefit rivals. It is two years since his last win and he remains on a higher mark than for that modest win, paying for his consistency. He certainly did nothing wrong and now five he looks ready to step up to this level especially as fast ground holds no fear.
Aureate charged down the wide outside after the winner had got first run and also only just failed to reel him in. He is another rare winner hampered by his consistency gaining no mercy from the handicapper but showed a strongly-run contest at this trip suits, although he has struggled to get home when tried over further.
King's Head caught the eye as he had a mountain to climb from the bottom of Tattenham Corner yet nearly achieved it, which shows how much strong running he hasdone in the final three furlongs. He did not shine on the all-weather and is another who has jumped hurdles as a warm-up. His turf rating has eased and on this showing, he is ready to strike.
Prince Forever looks to be getting his act together after being a bit too impetuous in his early races. Stepping up again in trip, he plugged on to not be beaten far and settling better into his races, he remains interesting when dropped back in trip off an easing mark - now out of the three figures.
Misty Dancer, second a year ago, was looking for running room but in an unpromising position when baulked and he could not recover.
Capable Guest rarely wins and, sitting out the back to get this longer trip, he could never land a blow.
John Terry was disappointing but has shown he enjoys having an uncontested lead and as such this race was not run to suit.
Mull Of Dubai has won at this trip but after his latest 1m2f win, he put in an effort early in the straight but weakened disappointing into the final furlong. (BJ)
