Copperbottomed held up, headway over 2f out, shaken up to lead over 1f out, soon clear
Varinia chased leaders, outpaced over 2f out, ran on under pressure inside final furlong
Bahamarama led 1f, chased leader, ridden over 2f out, every chance over 1f out, edged left and no extra final furlong
Lord Deevert slowly into stride, held up, not clear run over 2f out, headway over 1f out, not trouble leaders
Hapi prominent, edged left over 3f out, ridden over 1f out, hung left and weakened final furlong
Bertha prominent, not much room and lost place over 3f out, never dangerous after
Fraamington held up, ridden over 2f out, no chance when hampered inside final furlong
Paris Hall started slowly, outpaced
Wave Hill not much room soon after start, headway over 4f out, ridden, hung right and weakened well over 1f out
Mystickhill led 5f out, ridden and headed over 1f out, soon hung left and weakened
Although the winner didn't travel with a great degree of fluency, he picked up well as the gaps came, and having hit the front over a furlong out he quickened away nicely to win pretty emphatically. He was brought back in at the subsequent auction for 6,500gns.
Lord Deevert couldn't land a blow and was a bit disappointing.
