Blythe Knight chased leading pair, switched right over 1f out, soon chasing leader, led 1f out, edged left under pressure, ran on well
Alexandros chased leader, led 2f out, soon ridden, headed 1f out, kept on but always held
Young Pretender slowly into stride, held up in midfield, headway and ridden 3f out, chased leaders 2f out, kept on same pace final furlong
Don´t Panic held up in midfield, shaken up and effort 3f out, ridden and slightly out pace 2f out, edged left and kept on again inside final furlong
Majestic Roi steadied after start, took keen hold, held up in last pair, headway 3f out, ridden and effort on outer 2f out, one pace under pressure in final furlong
Mia´s Boy held up towards rear, ridden over 3f out, never pace to threaten leaders, beaten when short of room inside final furlong
Dunelight led at good pace, ridden and headed 2f out, weakened over rf out
Metropolitan Man held up in last, ridden over 3f out, soon struggling, eased inside final furlong, tailed off
On the face of it, both Godolphin three-year-olds were disappointing, as they had strong Group 3 form, but connections see them as horses for the autumn on easier ground. Young Pretender sat in the pack and could not raise the pace to challenge on the downhill run, but he was keeping on late. He was dropping back in trip after his Dante run.
Majestic Roi was coming down in class but had a 7lb penalty for her Group 1 success. She is better on faster ground but showed she is in good heart as she finished on the heels of the placed horses after being settled off the pace.
The ground had not dried out enough for Dunelight, but he still set a strong gallop before weakening and can prove better than the bare form.
Metropolitan Man was never travelling with any fluency at the back and this run was too bad to be true. (BJ)
