Summer Dancer held up in rear, switched outside and headway to lead 2f out, ridden over 1f out, headed and one pace inside final furlong

Esoterica tracked leaders, led 3f out, ridden and headed 2f out, not much room over 1f out, switched left and stayed on under pressure inside final furlong

Aussie Blue held up towards rear, headway 3f out, close up 2f out, soon ridden and every chance until driven and weakened entering final furlong

Polish Corridor chased leaders, ridden along and slightly outpaced 2f out, kept on under pressure inside final furlong

Fever chased leaders, ridden along over 2f out, weakened over 1f out

Glenridding led, ridden along and headed 3f out, driven over 2f out and soon weakened

Thunderousapplause chased leaders, ridden along 3f out, soon weakened

Visibility was very poor, due to rapidly fading light. AXIOM, withdrawn from his intended first start of the season after getting upset in the stalls, did his job nicely here, coming from off the pace to defy top weight. There should be more to come from him.

Summer Dancer, making his seasonal bow, had every chance and ran a sound race. There should be something similar in him.

Esoterica, having been produced to win his race, was ultimately comfortably held. Aussie Blue ran a respectable race in fourth, comfortably clear of the remainder, headed by Polish Corridor, who came up short when the race began in earnest.

First-time blinkers had an adverse effect on Thunderousapplause, who got herself in a dreadful tizz leaving the paddock and who basically had run her race even before it had started.
