Crimson Fern tracked leader until led after 2f, hard driven and quickened 2 lengths clear 1f out, held on well close home
Highland Warrior steadied start and switched right to far rail, ridden halfway, headway under pressure over 1f out, stayed on to take 2nd final 50yds but never quite going pace to reach winner
Glasshoughton slight lead 2f, stayed chasing winner until no extra final 50yds
Judge ´n Jury chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, stayed on same pace final furlong
Diriculous in touch, ridden over 2f out, kept on inside final furlong but never going pace to reach leaders
River Thames in rear, ridden halfway, stayed on under pressure final furlong but never in contention
Fromsong mid-division, ridden over 2f out, always struggling to go pace
The Lord chased leaders, ridden 3f out, weakened inside final 2f
Namir slowly into stride, switched right to far rail, took keen hold early, always outpaced
Don Pele soon driven and outpaced, some progress final furlong
Zowington slowly away, ridden halfway and always outpaced
Dazed And Amazed in touch, ridden halfway, never in contention and weakened over 1f out
Annes Rocket slowly away, always behind
CRIMSON FERN is improving fast and made up for last week's unlucky second at York, where she bunnyhopped leaving the stalls, showing speed throughout from stall 13 and leading after 2f or so.
Though inclined to edge off the rail in the closing stages, she was always holding on. She was 21lb higher than for the first of this year's four wins, and she is improving so fast that the handicapper might not catch up with her for a while yet.
Highland Warrior was drawn wide in stall 2, but his rider gradually got him over towards the far side and he made his final effort hard against the rail.
This was a good effort on ground slower than he's ever won on, and he will be 3lb lower still from tomorrow onwards, so clearly handicapped to win in the near future if everything drops right for him.
Judge 'n Jury was a bit disappointing at Ripon last time, but he came here well fancied on ideal ground and from a good draw. He chased the pace from the start but never looked likelyto win and was eventually just run out of the places.
Diriculous has done all his winning on the AW, but he ran well on his only previous start on turf and was far from disgraced, keeping on steadily without threatening.
River Thames also made moderate late headway.
Further back Don Pele also made a little late ground over a trip clearly too short for him.
Dane O'Neill reported that Fromsong had a breathing problem, while Richard Smith reported that Annes Rocket missed thebreak and was never travelling.
