Sweet Refrain slowly into stride, raced awkwardly in rear, well tailed off final 2f, virtually pulled up inside final furlong
Transfer, a taking gelding with still more strengthening to do into his big frame, was more settled on this seasonal return although again going with the pace. He pulled away into the home bend and despite edging right was in no danger. He looks a progressive sort and it will be interesting to see how the handicapper assesses his first three efforts, although he could prove a conditions race performer.
Totally Focussed was reported to have slipped his bit and as such he has done well to finish second without threatening the winner in the final furlong but well clear of the rest. He has not been as competitive on turf but clearly enjoys the all-weather with a third second. He is not the strongest finisher in his races but has done nothing wrong here, beating the rest out of sight to suggest he should win his maiden.
