Fair Spin tracked leader, challenged 4f out, slight lead over 2f out, headed inside final furlong, weakened towards finish
Mozayada held up in last, effort over 3f out, weakened over 2f out, eased final furlong
There were four close up inside the final quarter of a mile with RITSI travelling best but with nowhere to go so his rider barged his way to daylight and then the five-year-old battled on well to hold off Danzatrice by half a length. The winner was having his first run after a year off with a leg problem and as it was thought he might need the run there could be better to come.
Danzatrice was never travellingparticularly well and her jockey was quite rightly standing his ground and keeping the winner in on the rails. But when she was bumped out of the way she became unbalanced and that certainly did not help her cause - and as she still managed to rally under pressure to be beaten only half a length it could be argued that she might well have won if she had been able to keep on an even keel. However, the stewards felt the incident did not improve the winner's placing.
