Asaint Needs Brass led to over 4f out, soon in 3rd, switched to inner and quick progress to lead well over 1f out, hung left entering final furlong, held on
In Transit led over 4f out, headed and not quicken well over 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong, not get back to winner
I Am The Best held up in 4th, outpaced and shaken up over 2f out, struggling until stayed on just over 1f out, gaining steadily at finish
Redhead tracked leader after 2f to 2f out, not quicken and held after
Syrinx dwelt, ran green and always last, outpaced over 2f out, stayed on inside final furlong
ASAINT NEEDS BRASS made the early running but was headed on the turn and his rider gave him a breather before asking him for hiseffort halfway up the straight. He responded well and ran on strongly to get the better of In Transit, who took the advantage off the winner on the bend and battled on well but could not hold off his rival's renewed effort.
The winner looks a decent sort on this surface and the Sirenia Stakes at the end of the summer appeals as a likely target providing he continues to progress, while the runner-up is also improving with racing and lost little in defeat.
Redhead,an 80,000gn yearling from the family of the stable's good juvenile Lady Links, had looked in need of the experience on her debut but ran quite free and could not build on that effort, fading late on.
Syrinx cost 230,000gn as a yearling but never got out of last place on this racecourse debut.
