Analyis of the race
Plenty of these three-year-olds were in the form to run well and this was potentially a fair 56-75 handicap but the three pace-setters went plenty fast enough up front and that set things up perfectly for FOOLS GOLD, who was dropping back in trip having not lasted home over 1m on his previous start. He was visually the most impressive, leading over two furlongs out and soon clear before being eased inside the final furlong, yet still passing the post six lengths up. This was only his fifth start and he is clearly improving, but winning as he did will incur a considerable rise in the weights and as he had this race run very much run to suit, he may find things difficult once reassessed.
The impression that the early gallop may have been a shade toostrong was underlined by the way that Montiboli and All In The Red each ran on for a place in the latter stages having both been outpaced. Montiboli has won at 1m and will be as effective returned to that trip while All In The Red shaped as though well worth a try at that distance.
Arabian Spirit and Chrsytal Venture also shaped better than the bare form after helping to force the pace.
