Rising Shadow held up towards rear, headway over 2f out, switched right and ridden over 1f out, stayed on to lead last 100yds
Valery Borzov close up, ridden over 1f out, led entering final furlong and soon driven, headed and no extra last 100yds
Bel Cantor led, ridden along 2f out, driven over 1f out, headed entering final furlong, kept on
Swinbrook chased leaders, switched right and ridden well over 1f out, driven inside final furlong and kept on same pace
Grazeon Gold Blend slowly into stride and behind until stayed on final 2f, never dangerous
High Curragh close up, ridden along halfway, weakened 2f out
Dazzling Bay chased leaders, ridden along halfway, soon lost place and behind, eased
Valery Borzov lost no caste in defeat. Without the headgear this time, and not favourably drawn, he went down fighting in second; he remains a progressive sprinter, this performance representing a career-best display off his revised mark.
Swinbrook continues to run well. Off the bridle a fair way out here, he stuck to his task in pleasing style. Grazeon Gold Blend was comfortably held on his second start of the season, while High Curragh, weighted to run Valerie Borzov very close on Thirsk running last month, may not have been ideally at home on this testing ground. Dazzling Bay, returning from a 598-day break, finished tailed-off.
