Charging Indian towards rear and green early, headway halfway, switched right and ridden over 1f out, stayed on to challenge inside final furlong, led near line
Black Attack chased leading pair, headway 2f out, ridden to lead inside final furlong, soon driven and headed near line
Titus Andronicus close up, led 2f out, ridden over 1f out, edged right and headed inside final furlong, weakened
Mo Mhuirnin led, ridden along and headed 2f out, soon weakened
Taazur slowly into stride, rear until pushed along and some headway halfway, ridden and beaten over 2f out
Gems Star reared start, chased leaders, ridden along and lost place halfway, soon behind and eased
Favourite backers knew their fate pretty early on when Taazur missed the break and was always struggling to get into the race. CHARGING INDIAN took time to warm to his task on his debut. But he did some sterling work from halfway and, after a duel with the runner-up, came out just the better in a bobbing finish. He is open to further improvement.
The apprentice-ridden Black Attack, another making his debut, ran a fine race in defeat and was only worried out of it in the final strides. He finished clear of the remainder and should be able to go one better.
Taazur is surely better than he showed here; quicker ground may be better for him. Gems Star, a late-May foal, was well beaten.
