Shenandoah Girl held up in last trio, progress on wide outside 3f out, soon driven, sustained effort under pressure to lead inside final furlong, kept on
Compton Charlie led 1f, restrained beihnd leading pair, effort on inner to lead over 1f out, headed and no extra inside final furlong
Glitz held up in midfield, effort 2f out, ridden to challenge 1f out, found little and held inside final furlong
Capistrano held up in last, effort when not clear run over 2f out, progress over 1f out, kept on one pace final furlong
Hawkstar Express led after 1f to over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong
Special Feature held up in midfield, effort on inner over 2f out, soon ridden and no progress
Dawn Mystery took keen hold, tracked leaders, ridden to challenge 2f out, found nil and beaten over 1f out
Eddystone took keen hold, tracked leader over 9f out, ridden over 3f out, weakened tamely 2f out
Drombeg Pride held up in rear, pushed along and no progress over 2f out
Pay The Grey always in rear, last and losing touch under pressure over 3f out
Relatively lightly raced, her sole win to date had come in a Fibresand claimer and she once again showed her liking for slow conditions by winning this handicap, although she was racing off a mark of just 51. She was forced wide on the home bend and she didn't look entirely straightforward but she picked up well once straightened upfor home.
Compton Charlie began to be niggled along over 3f out but he responded to pressure up the inside to stick on and edge out Glitz who travelled strongly on his handicap debut, stepped up in trip. He cost 85,000gns so it's disappointing to see him down at this level so soon in his career. He didn't look entirely in love with the game when coming under pressure.
