Ardfry led to 1st, led 6th, headed approaching next, weakened 4 out, modest 3rd when mistake last
The Real Alydaly steadied start, took keen hold and rapid headway to lead 1st, headed 6th, soon weakened, modest 5th when badly hampered 3 out, soon tailed off
Crofton Arch driven 6th, went 2nd next, 4 lengths down when fell 8th
Star Galaxy jumped slowly 1st, headway 3rd, never near leaders, modest 4th when blundered and unseated rider 3 out
Analyis of the race
Although he hadn't won a race before, STAND ON ME got off the mark with a very easy success once he had stormed past the favourite soon after jumping the last. He pulled right away on the long run-in. He had finally been given a chance by the handicapper who is likely to take a dim view of this and raise him again.
Oliverjohn looked to have little chance on the form book and never showed in the race with a winning chance, but with most of the opposition falling or weakening out of contention, he stayed on to take second close home.
Crofton Arch, who had disappointed over a much longer trip at Saturday's meeting, was in the process of running a much better race as he had just taken second place when falling at the eighth.
